The power goes out. About 30 seconds later, it is back.
A standby generator with an automatic transfer switch keeps your heat, sump pump, refrigeration, and internet running through winter storms and grid outages. We are a certified Kohler dealer and install Standby Kohler (Rehlco) generators. We also service generators depending on what you have.
A generator is a planning job first
Size follows the circuits you want live during an outage. Backing up only the essentials keeps the unit smaller and the cost lower.
We review what your property supports and coordinate with licensed gas technicians and the utility as needed.
It detects the outage and moves your loads to the generator, usually in about 30 seconds. No extension cords, no going outside in the storm.
Oil, filters, spark plugs, transfer switch, and software, once a year, so the machine starts the day you need it.
Why we lean Kohler in this climate
Cold-climate options like battery heaters, oil filter heaters, and carburetor heaters keep starts consistent below zero, and a built-in trickle charger keeps the battery ready between outages. Kohler's OnCue Plus adds remote monitoring: system status, alerts, and start/stop from your phone, wherever you are.
That said, we install Standby Kohler (Rehlco) generators and service other generator types depending on your equipment, and we will tell you plainly which unit fits your home and budget.
Generator questions
Whole-home backup or essential loads only?▾
Either. Essential-load backup (heat, sump, fridge, some lights) needs a smaller unit. Whole-home transfer costs more and covers everything. We size from the circuits you pick.
What fuel does it run on?▾
Natural gas and propane are the common options; some models run diesel. We coordinate the gas side with licensed gas technicians.
Does it need a permit and inspection?▾
Yes. ESA notification and inspection are part of the installation, and we build them into the plan from the start.
